November’s Family Violence Prevention Month

Holding Abusers to Account in November

  • Had conversations about changing Family Law in cases of Domestic Violence with the Minister of Justice, his Chief of Staff, and the Minister of Children and Family Services and his Chief of Staff

  • Followed up with both Minister’s offices as per their request and got responses from both departments and their steps moving forward

  • Spoke about coercive control at a fundraiser

  • Interviewed on CYV Morning Live talking about domestic violence

  • Interviewed for the CTV News about domestic violence

  • Wrote and spoke with people about coercive control - building community, educating others, collaborating, for change

  • Supported women and children who are victims of abuse

  • Spoke up for truth in Family Court

  • Continued to watch and support Bill C-332 to make Coercive Control a Criminal Code offence in Canada - It is currently in the second reading in the Senate

We can break patterns of abuse by healing and helping each other. We can normalize conversations about abuse and share stories to help others learn and recognize signs of abuse. We can hold abusers to account by criminalizing coercive control and changing Family Court.
